The best part of going to a camp at a big I Division BCS school is that it is NOT just coaches from that school that are in attendance. A lot of times there will be coaches there from lower level schools that are looking for talented prospects that might not be quite Maryland-caliber but are still outstanding in their own right.

Plus, Maryland head coach Randy Edsall has developed a reputation as being a stellar evaluator and developer of talent. That means if you got something, he and his staff will notice!

We mentioned in the previous post to the www.gobigrecruiting.com blog that we would let you know about the two camps that we recommend more than ANY others that are out there.

The first is the Lauren’s First & Goal camp (http://laurensfirstandgoal.org) which takes place on Sunday June 3rd at Lafayette College in Easton, PA and Sunday June 17th at Otterbein College in Westerville, OH. There really is no other camp like it in the country and that is why the guys from Go Big attend it every year so you could get the chance to meet us in person if you would like.

More importantly, there are over 360 college coaches from every level in attendance and a lot of them are there specifically to support a great cause and look for prospects. All of the proceeds go to pediatric brain tumor research and support pediatric cancer services.

We recommend not only making it a point to attend this one day event that offers great exposure but to also email coaches from all of the schools you are interested in to let them know you are going to be there so they can check you out. Chances are, at least somebody from their staff will be there and be able to look at you move around and see what you can do.

We get asked this question a lot and the truth is that the answer is fairly simple: As many as you can.

That doesn’t mean you should try to go to every single camp you can find. It just means that if you want to make sure that you get a fantastic opportunity to be seen by your top college choices, there is nothing better than going to their camp.

Most camps, especially the one-day camps held on college campuses, are basically glorified try-outs. More and more schools are primarily offering scholarships and roster spots to players that they have seen in person at their camps. For one, it shows that the prospect is genuinely interested in the school. And aside from your actual highlight & game films that they can check out via www.gobigrecruiting.com, watching you move and compete in the various drills is the best opportunity they have to evaluate you.

Going to camps at every single individual school you are interested in is not practical, however. That’s why you have to find some camps where a lot of college coaches will be in attendance. There are a lot of good ones out there but some stand out above the rest in terms of exposure. Check the www.gobigrecruiting.com blog from time to time for the camps that are the best fit for you.

What exactly is the Spring Evaluation Period?

The Spring Evaluation period for college football coaches begins on Friday, April 15th and ends on May 31st. During that time, college coaches are allowed to be on the road for up to four weeks, visiting high schools around the country talking with high school coaches and doing background work on high school prospects.

Find out in PART 2 of this post what you NEED to know in order to be prepared for their impending visits.

Can you get recruited without one? Yes. Does having a good highlight video give you a better chance of getting recruited? ABSOLUTELY.

The main reason is that college coaches don’t want to take the time to watch you play in person or watch an entire game video of you unless they have already seen or heard enough to know that it will be worth it. They can’t afford to waste their time.

A highlight video gives them a sneak peek at some of your best action and allows them to decide whether or not they are interested in seeing more.

Highlight Film- As you can tell, you really should have one. We can do it for you if you would like. Just click this link for more info http://www.gobigrecruiting.com/highlight.php

Even if you don’t use www.gobigrecruiting.com for your highlight video, that’s fine. Just make sure you get one done or make it yourself because that is the 1st thing you should submit to colleges to spark their interest.

You know who gets you a scholarship offer? YOU DO. It is your performance in the classroom and on the field/court that will earn you whatever you get. What you NEED to do is make sure every school school has access to that information. The fact is, www.gobigrecruiting.com is the best way to do this.

The results speak for themselves. Check out the recent article on www.gobigrecruiting.com user Alex Anzalone:

Parents, prospects, and even high school coaches can sometimes be skeptical concerning the legitimacy of services such as Go Big Recruiting. We understand that and frankly we would be the same way. Though we consider ourselves to be an online video service as opposed to a recruiting service we can understand why anyone might be hesitant.

The fact is, however, that we are the most effective & efficient way for video & information to be submitted to college coaches and the proof is in the pudding. Over 100 colleges like getting their video and information from www.gobigrecruiting.com so much that they actually mention us as an option in their correspondence with high school recruits. You can’t get any more legit than that and in fact that is very likely how you heard about us in th first place.

The latest example? How about the Alabama Crimson Tide football program, which recently sent out a letter to prospects that included a mention of www.gobigrecruiting.com as a service that they are now utilizing.

Think about that for a second. The program that has won two out of the last three National Titles in college football uses Go Big. That’s as “legit” as it gets!

If you’d like to see a copy of the letter, we’d be happy to send you a copy. Simply email us at contact@gobigrecruiting.com.

The National Letter of Intent Signing Day for college football prospects is tomorrow, February 1st and the guys at www.gobigrecruiting.com wanted to congratulate all of the Go Big football prospects in the Class of 2012 that will be putting pen to paper tomorrow. Your natural ability combined with hard work and perseverance has allowed you to get to this point. Never forget what it took to get here and keep that same mindset at the next level! It is our sincere hope that www.gobigrecruiting.com played a part in your big day. If that is the case, please send us an email to contact@gobigrecruiting.com and let us know. We’d love to hear it.

For Those 2012 Football Players That Are NOT Signing on Signing Day

Do not be discouraged. At all. When it comes right down to it, it is all about getting the chance to play football while getting a great education at the next level, whether that is Division 3, NAIA, Junior College or whatever. If your dream is to play professional football, they can still find you at those levels if you are good enough. If it isn’t, how much does level of play really matter? In fact, you can make the argument that the lower the level of play the better chance you have to get playing time sooner.

Either way, keep pushing and exploring your options via www.gobigrecruiting.com. This is not over yet. Not by a long shot. A lot of programs at these levels recruit all the way through May looking for prospects!

The football prospects in the Class of 2012 that want to play Division I are getting near that time. Here’s our advice for them:

TONS OF GREAT OPTIONS- Most people have a goal to play at the highest level they possibly can. That’s understandable. The reality is, however, that very few prospects will ever actually get a chance in professional football and so the most important aspect of college football is the education you receive and the experience you have. There are hundreds of Division 3, NAIA, & Junior Colleges still looking for prospects as we speak.

Don’t miss out on what could be an awesome opportunity by being stubborn. Too many prospects get caught up in level of play. Go to www.gobigrecruiting.com and submit your video and information to these schools immediately!
