Recruiting season never takes a break

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Merry X-mas!  As you enjoy the holidays and good times with family and friends, keep in mind that recruiting season and football season never truly take a break.  If you have not already done so or are not getting the interest you were hoping for from college coaches, it is time to send your film to more schools.

Players with hopes of playing at the Division I or II level often find out around this time of year that they will have more opportunities at the Division III level.  Division III plays an exciting brand of football and is a huge jump from the high school game.  Send your game film out to Division III schools that interest you via www.gobigrecruiting.com and keep the dream of playing college football alive!

Terrelle Pryor is ridiculous

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Terrelle Pryor is ridiculous. I had the opportunity to watch the Pennsylvania State High School Football Championships this weekend and was utterly amazed as I watched the #1 recruit in the nation at work. Pryor, a 6’6” 230lb. quarterback from Jeannette High School in Western Pennsylvania is perhaps the most gifted athlete to ever play the QB position, and that is not idle hyperbole.

He is a much larger Michael Vick. Or a significantly faster Vince Young. No matter who you compare him to, Pryor’s natural athleticism surpasses them by a fair amount. No wonder schools all over the country are courting him with Oregon, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, and now Michigan still in the running. Whoever gets Pryor is guaranteeing themselves an exciting three years and a legitimate chance at the national title. He is that good.

College Coach Visits

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

College coaches are on the road as we speak visiting high schools all over the country in search of the best student-athletes they can find. You must be aware of several things as this process unfolds.

First and foremost, you must send your game film via www.gobigrecruiting.com to ensure that the coaches have it. The more college coaches that receive your video and like it, the more college recruiters will come to your school and home in order to meet with you in person.

It is critical that you prepare for these visits by the coaches and take them seriously. College coaches are very concerned with how you look physically; they call it the “eyeball” test. You need to make sure you look as impressive physically as possible so that they will have a positive impression of your stature and potential to play football at a high level for their institution.

I recommend wearing two or three extra t-shirts underneath you clothes as well as whatever boots or shoes make you look the tallest. It may sound funny, but you want to look your very best and appear to be as gifted as possible from a physique standpoint. Make sure you look (within reason) as thick and tall as you possibly can for these visits.
