Go Big vs. YouTube

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

We are often asked by people why they should pay $4.99 to submit their film online using Go Big Recruiting when they could just upload it to YouTube and email the coach a link.  Good question.  Here’s the answer.

Go Big allows you to uploads highlights AND full games.  YouTube does not.

Go Big’s system is set up so that you receive both an email and a check mark on your homepage every time a new school that you have chosen reviews your profile.  YouTube can’t do this.

Go Big automatically puts your name into our searchable database as soon as you sign-up so that interested coaches can request your complete profile and video. This is simply not possible on YouTube.

Go Big’s video quality is significantly higher than YouTube, giving you a much better chance that the coach will watch the entire video and be able to truly evaluate you on film.

Go Big stores all of your academic, athletic, and contact information on the same page as your video so the coach can get in touch with you whenever he wants.  YouTube doesn’t work like that.

Go Big keeps all of the prospects’ videos and information in one place for each college so that when they log-in they immediately can view any of them.  YouTube is just a link in an email, one of hundreds that a college coach may get, making storage and recovery of that video very difficult later on in the process.

Most importantly, over 80 college football programs like Go Big so much that they actually let their prospects know that they can choose to use Go Big to submit their film.  YouTube not so much.

Yes, YouTube is free.  But you get what you pay for and $4.99 is not a lot of money considering your future is at stake.

Most DVD’s Sit in Boxes

Monday, April 26th, 2010

They really do.  Have you ever been in the office of a college football coach?  All of the DVDs sit in a crate in the corner of their office.  They try to watch them when they get a chance, but even then, it is primarily the kids that they already know about or the prospects that come from power-house high schools.  Where does that put you?

Most importantly, even if they do watch your DVD, you will NEVER know unless they really like what they saw and they get in touch with you.  At least with Go Big you know exactly when your profile and video have been reviewed.  That peace of mind allows you to never have to wonder whether or not your DVD is still buried in the bottom of a crate.

FREE SCHOOL SUBMISSIONS FROM GO BIG!

FREE SCHOOLS!: Did you know you can send your video and information to schools at NO ADDITIONAL COST as long as you refer a friend to Go Big and they both sign-up at Go Big Recruiting and place an order.  The best part about it is that it is a win-win for everyone involved.

As soon as you refer a friend via the “tell a friend” box located in the bottom right of your homepage after you sign into your account, those friends will receive a coupon code that is good for 3 FREE SCHOOLS if they go to place an order.  Then, as soon as they fill out their profile, upload their video, and choose some schools, you will receive your own coupon code that is also good for 3 FREE SCHOOLS. That is three more opportunities for you to get noticed and possibly recruited by a great college or university!

Email Issues

Friday, April 16th, 2010

It has recently come to our attention that there was a technical issue on our end that at times caused multiple emails sent via Go Big’s system to go out at the same time.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

This primarily occurred when college coaches searched our database of prospects and requested certain student-athletes they were interested in to submit their complete profile and video to their school via the “XYZ University is interested in you!” emails that some of you may have received.

Those coaches specifically put a check mark next to your name after looking at your basic athletic and academic information in our searchable database, indicating they wanted an email to be sent to you requesting that you log-in to your Go Big account and order their school so that they have access to your film and profile.  Unfortunately, at times, two, three, and even four emails were generated at that exact same time when only one should have been.

However, if you receive two emails from the same school at different times, that likely means either a second coach requested your video and profile online via Go Big or else the same coach is really anxious to take a look at what you have to offer their program.

Ole Miss is the latest to mention Go Big!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

The University of Mississippi Rebels, from the prestigious Southeastern Conference (SEC), are the latest school to specifically mention Go Big Recruiting as an option for submitting game and/or highlight videos to them for their review.  Here’s what their film request to the prospects they are interested in looks like:

Dear Prospect,

Thank you for your interest in Ole Miss Football.  Right now we are in the evaluation stage of our recruiting process.  We will be in contact with you or your coach at the permissible time (NCAA bylaws).  Please continue to follow Ole Miss Football and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

What if a school hasn’t watched my video yet?

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Go Big has at least one coach, and in most cases multiple coaches, at every single university that is responsible for viewing the profiles and videos of prospects that submit their info online using Go Big.

In many instances, those coaches log-in to their Go Big Recruiting account and view prospects immediately upon receiving the email that they have a new prospect.  Some other coaches at different schools may wait a couple of days before checking out their new prospects.  Still others wait a couple of weeks before reviewing all of their Go Big prospects at once.

We work tirelessly to make sure these coaches review the videos as quickly as possible but if you want to try to expedite the process, feel free to email or call any of the coaches at the school or even better the coach that you are dealing with and let them know your film is available on Go Big. Go Big is free for college coaches so any coach can easily sign up and view your information even if they aren’t already part of the Go Big system.
